Conserving Freezer Space

One more post about the freezer defrost!  I had to reduce the packaging on some things to help it all fit into the inside freezer.

First were some sausages I bought last week.  You can see the 3 packages below.

I took them out of the foam packs and put them into quart size ziplocs instead.

These were in the outside freezer.  The foam trays were much larger than the one pound of meat inside the package, so I just put each pound of meat into a freezer bag instead.

Each bag took up less than half of the space of the foam packs.

Lesson:  If you see an amazing deal on meat but think you don't have room in your freezer, think again.  Consider the packaging and you might be able to fit more than you think!
